Enabling out of band communication between Nodes in an HA Group

If you use Nodes that are IPMI compliant, for instance Dell servers that provide  IPMI support with access through iDRAC interfaces, to avoid data corruption scenarios, CloudByte recommends the following procedures to prevent data corruption.
Note: If you do not perform these steps, ensure that all the disks are SCSI reservation compatible to prevent data corruption.
Perform the following steps on the console of any one of the Nodes in the HA Group,
  1. Run the following command to copy the ipmi.conf.save file from the location /usr/local/agent/listener to usr/local/agent:
    cp /usr/local/agent/listener/ipmi.conf.save usr/local/agent
  2. Run the following command to rename the IPMI configuration file:
    mv ipmi.conf.save ipmi.conf
  3. Run the following command to fetch the unique IDs of all the Nodes in the HA Group:
    cat/usr/local/agent/cbc_node_id
  4. Use the following command to edit the configuration file:
    vi ipmi.conf
  5. In the configuration file, make the following changes : Note: The following configuration file illusutrates a 2 Node HA Group.
    [d8414c44-2e96-3522-a278-dc34f8e9c191]
    ip = 20.10.40.154
    authtype = PASSWORD
    username = root
    username =root
    password = test
    enabled = True

    [478041ed-9896-3106-bee1-47adb7d8c6e7]
    ip = 20.10.40.254
    authtype = PASSWORD
    username = root
    password = test
    enabled = True

  6. Parameter Comment
    d8414c44-2e96-3522-a278-dc34f8e9c191 Replace this ID with the one you fetched in step 3
    ip Replace the value for the IP address with the one specified in the iDRAC configuration
    authtype Leave the setting as it is
    username Replace the value for the username with the one you specified in the iDRAC configuration
    password Replace the value for the password with the one you specified in the iDRAC configuration
    enabled Leave the setting as it is
    Ensure that you do the changes for all the Nodes in the HA Group.
  7. Run the following command to save the file:
    esc +wq
    .
  8. Run the following command to copy the modified IPMI configuration file to all the Nodes in the HA Group:
    scp usr/local/agent/ipmio.conf destination Node IP address:/usr/local/agent
