Restore Snapshots while mapping NFS share (on ESX)

  1. In ElastiCenter, create a NFS Volume and name it, say, testvol3. (Storage Volumes > Provision Storage).

  3. Mount the Storage Volume on ESX Client.
    1. In the following page, Click on ESX Server.
    2. Click Storage in the left pane under the Hardware section.
    3. Select Add Storage option.
    4. Mark the storage type as Network File System and then click next.

  4. Add Storage.
    1. In Server tab, specify NFS Server IP Address.
    2. In Folder tab, specify the access path of NFS share.
    3. Specify a name for DataStore and then click next.

  5. Copy some data.
    1. Right Click on the Datastore name (Browse Datastore wizard appears).
    2. Select Browse Datastore.

    4. Click on upload icon to copy data as seen in the following page.

  6. Create a snapshot on the Storage Volume using the following procedures:
    1. In ElastiCenter, select the Storage Volume in the navigation pane.
    2. From the list, select the Storage Volume to create local backup.
    3. In the following page, go to the Backup section of the Action Pane and then select Create Snapshot.
    4. Specify a name for the snapshot to be created and then click OK.

  7. Delete the data from the mounted Storage Volume on ESX.

  9. In ElastiCenter, click Manage Snapshots (Actions pane > Local Backup) to see the list of snapshots.

  11. From the list of snapshots, for the snapshot you want to roll back click Restore icon.

  13. On ESX Client, refresh the mounted Storage Volume. Click on Refresh icon as seen in the following page and view the required data.
